I haven’t been aiming for any of the not so great offers, probably why I am still out of work. The way I see it is that I am getting ripped off if I go for something that I do not believe in. This is being extremely picky, I know.

But what do you do in situations like this? Recently I went for a role, through a recruiter, when I rang to find some feedback I was told that they were looking for somebody with more experience. Now that was very annoying as I was quite capable of doing the role. This could be because the recruiter initially sold me at the level and could not go forewards or the internal hire which is who finally got the role was at the initially level. Who knows?

More coverage is always good but I have found that people searching for candidates do not have time for text as they only ever scan through the resume. I went to an interview the other day and the interviewer had not seen any of my personal branding as they had not read the cover letter. If you can come up with a video ad really slick and fast, I would love to see it! Need marketing people to develop something like that and the not working cannot afford.

And to your offline thread, I have learnt to take the good with the bad, in every aspect of this social networking journey of mine. Though I have had lots of fun, just wish I could land that awesome job :-)

Thanks for the follow, it is always encouraging when I get comments like yours. People in the same situation and trying to think out of the box. Cheers ;-)

This is an interesting read as I too have been searching for jobs and trying to think outside the box in regards to finding work. My only concern is when a not so great offer comes along, it will be a tough decision to take it or not, especially when you're not working. I've been reading your blogs from the earliest to latest so best of luck with the job hunt if your are still looking.

I had the idea of making some sort of TV advertisement that would advertise yourself as the product. Posting this video on youtube and then linking to it from your blog/resume/LinkedIn account could get you some exposure. Who knows it might go viral and then everyone will want to hire you!
